Advanced Exploitation of Mozilla Firefox Use-After-Free Vulnerability (Pwn2Own 2014) CVE-2014-1512
VUPEN Vulnerability Research Blog - Advanced Exploitation of Mozilla Firefox Use-After-Free Vulnerability (Pwn2Own 2014 / CVE-2014-1512)
A JavaScript heap spray drives Firefox into its low-memory state, which frees a BumpChunk object while a stale reference to it survives. Replacing the object with a sprayed ArrayBuffer gives a partially controlled write that inflates byteLength into an arbitrary read and write, leaking a module base to defeat ASLR and DEP and redirecting execution for code execution on Windows 8.1.
