Tail Attacks on Web Applications

A low-volume denial of service on n-tier web stacks: short bursts of ordinary HTTP requests trigger millibottlenecks and cross-tier queue overflow, pushing tail response time past a second while CPU and memory stay far from saturation. A queueing model and feedback control tune burst size and period to background load, so volume-based DDoS defences never fire.
