Outlook blocks external content and UNC-prefixed paths in HTML mail, but enforces it over a narrower surface than its renderer resolves. Legacy schemes (its:, mk:@MSITStore:, mhtml:, res:, knownfolder:, cid:) and protocol-relative // reach remote and local targets from img, CSS @import, link and VML sinks on preview, leaking Net-NTLM over SMB or tracking the read over WebDAV when 445 is blocked.
