Java Applet Same IP Host Access
Java resolves its same-origin policy by IP address rather than hostname, so an applet uploaded to any host sharing a victim's IP can issue credentialed requests to that victim and read the responses. Setting the Host header on HttpURLConnection extends this to stealing non-HttpOnly cookies and writing cookies into the victim origin. Any XSS on a shared-IP host reaches it from JavaScript.
