Metaverse breached: Second Life customer database hacked
Linden Lab disclosed that a Second Life database holding unencrypted names and addresses, plus encrypted passwords and payment data, was breached; every user was forced to change passwords. A source told TechCrunch the entry came through an exploit in Tikiwiki, a third-party tool the company has since dropped. The piece argues virtual-world data deserves the same protection as any other.
